FORBES – AI powered super leaders

No Comments

Super managers will be those who can leverage AI to distill complex ideas, identify hidden patterns and plot strategies to gain a competitive edge. But tech won’t magically unleash their full potential. In the end, skill, grit and talent will determine which managers thrive in this evolving ecosystem.

Consider that business managers currently spend 54% of an average work day on administrative chores such as scheduling, budgets and reports, according to an Accenture survey in the Harvard Business Review. They spend just 10% on strategic planning and even less, 7%, engaging one-on-one with their direct reports.

Powered by AI managers will have more time to perform more valuable work. At the same time, they will be expected to move faster, fueled by data-driven insights for strategic decision making, and lead more effectively with the aid of AI-powered tools that can streamline productivity.

As AI automates more routine tasks, managers and employees will increasingly rely on “soft skills” such as emotional intelligence, creativity and critical problem solving. As a result, managers will need to hone their skills assessment expertise, identifying individual team members’ strengths and weaknesses.

Diagnostic AI software may help them monitor workers’ job performance and engagement, but the human element needed to deploy that data artfully will be empathy.

More data helps us make better decisions. If you’re a good manager, you would generally be in a better position to make better decisions with more data

Apple CEO Tim Cook Applies Three Persuasive Communication Techniques To Answer Tough Questions – Forbes, Carmine Gallo

1 Comment

Excerpt from Forbes article by Carmine Gallo;

1. Use a simple three-part story structure. Cramer asked Cook to make the case for Apple’s stock, which had fallen about 4% since the first of the year. Cook immediately took control of the narrative and shifted the story away from the stock price which, as he correctly points out, will fluctuate due to emotions and macro-economic factors outside of his control. Instead, he used a three-part structure to explain the business.

2. Keep the focus on the customer. As a consumer-centric company, Apple’s customer loyalty means everything. In an answer to another stock-related question, Cook brought the discussion back to the customer. He used specific examples to highlight the value of Apple’s products to people’s lives. As you read this explanation, also pay attention the parallel structure of Cook’s sentences which adds to the impact of his words.

3. Put events in perspective. Headlines often get shared in an instant with little or no perspective. Good communicators need to take every opportunity to add context that customers or investors might be missing.

#RIZE THINKTEAM capturing “CULTURE”

One of the most (mis)used management buzzwords in the past 10 years has to be “culture”. What is this fuzzy word all about? In this THINKTEAM we found the right answer and defined some culture concepts. For organizations seeking to become more adaptive and innovative, culture change is often the most challenging part of the transformation. Innovation demands new behaviors from leaders and employees that are often antithetical to corporate cultures, which are historically focused on operational excellence and efficiency. (more…)

In “mobility to the max” we create a vision for mobility 10 years from now.

Which brands do you think will be the winners in mobility?

Paul Heise – All major brands will leap frog over each other in new developments. We’ll see a lot of m&a in the automotive industry in the coming two decades, as well as JVs with related industries, as alternatives to internal combustion engines mature (H2, EV, formic acid, PV powered engines, etc). My guess: in 2040 there are no more than 8 brands (with sub-brands) dominating the market (plus dozens of niche players of course), all targeting alternative power trains only, because the ICE has been banned in most western countries.
